5× to 12× markup, in-house.
All-in materials run about $5. Real estate agents pay $30–$45. Funeral homes and corporate clients pay $45–$60. Every book bound is profit kept in your shop instead of sent to a trade bindery.
A premium product category your shop can sell at $30–$60 per book — produced in-house with the equipment you already use for everything else Peleman makes.
Spiral binding and saddle-stitch are commodities. Hardcover-style books aren’t. Peleman Hardcover Studio gives your shop a high-margin product that competitors down the street can’t match — without buying a single piece of traditional bookbinding equipment.

Custom hardcover-style books in quantities of one. Variable artwork on every cover. The kind of premium finish your customers used to outsource to specialty binderies — now produced in your shop, same day.
Four steps. No specialty operator. No traditional case-making. The wrap goes through your existing wide-format printer and the cover binds on a Unibind 60 Pro thermal binder — the same machine that handles every other Peleman product.
The thermal binder and Flex Covers that power Hardcover Studio are the same equipment and core consumables behind every other product Peleman makes. Add one system to your shop and you can produce all of it — without buying anything else.
Already own a Unibind 60 Pro? Hardcover Studio bolts straight onto what you have. Skip the machine in your order.
No traditional case-making. No fabric. No glue pots. The Flex Cover already contains the steel spine and thermal resin — you just print, wrap, and bind.
Lay out the cover in Peleman’s online editor or drop in your customer’s artwork. Templates handle the spine width, mirror panels, and bleed automatically.
One continuous sheet of coated peel-and-stick substrate. Inside front mirror, front, spine, back, inside back mirror — all printed in a single pass.
Peel the liner, lay the Flex Cover into the pre-scored layout, and smooth the wrap into place. Full coverage front, back, spine, and both inside flaps.
Drop the printed text block into the Flex Cover and run it through the thermal binder. The steel spine and thermal resin do the rest.

The wrap is a single coated sheet, pre-scored to fit the Flex Cover. Unlike a flimsy dust jacket, it covers both outside surfaces and both inside mirror panels — edge to edge.
Four components. One workflow. Order as a kit or piece it together — if you already own the binder, skip it.
The structural binding cover. Contains the steel spine and thermal resin that becomes rigid after binding. Available in 5 mm and 9 mm spine widths at launch.
Wide-format printable, coated, peel-and-stick. Pre-scored to the Flex Cover layout. One sheet wraps the entire book — mirrors, covers, and spine.
Browser-based design editor with templates pre-sized to every Flex Cover. Drop in your customer’s artwork, set the spine width, export print-ready PDFs.
Thermal binder that activates the resin in the Flex Cover. ~90 seconds per book. The same machine that handles photo books, presentations, and every other Peleman binding product.
Move the sliders to model your shop. Defaults assume a mid-volume copy shop selling listing books to a small handful of local real estate agents — one of the easier verticals to land first.
Materials cost is held constant at ~$5/book (Flex Cover + Wrap + interior paper + thermal resin). Excludes labor — most shops produce one book in under 5 minutes hands-on time.
These are the customers walking into print shops today asking for “something nicer than a binder.” Hardcover Studio is what you sell them.

A 45-year-old family business behind Unibind and the binding equipment in tens of thousands of print shops worldwide.
Most of these come straight from intake calls with shop owners evaluating Hardcover Studio. If yours isn’t here, ask on the demo call.
It’s a hardcover-style book. The Flex Cover contains a steel spine and thermal resin that becomes rigid after binding, so the finished product reads, handles, and shelves like a traditional hardcover. It’s not casebound — there’s no fabric, no headband, no traditional case-making equipment required. The result is the look and feel of a custom hardcover at a fraction of the production time and cost.
At launch: 5 mm (roughly 30-90 sheets of 24# bond) and 9 mm (roughly 90-170 sheets). Additional sizes are on the roadmap — tell us on the demo call which sizes your customers are asking for and we’ll keep you posted.
If you already own a Unibind 60 Pro (or any compatible Peleman thermal binder), you’re set — just toggle the kit to exclude it. If you don’t, the binder is included in the starter kit and pays for itself within the first few months for most shops. It’s the same binder that handles the rest of the Peleman catalog, so you’re not buying single-purpose equipment.
Any wide-format inkjet capable of running coated paper at 35 inches wide. Most shops already have one. The wrap ships in flat sheets pre-scored to the Flex Cover layout — no special media path required.
A traditional dust jacket is loose, flimsy, and wraps only the outside cover. Hardcover Wrap is peel-and-stick, fully adhered, and covers both outside surfaces plus both inside mirror panels — edge to edge. The finished book has no exposed cover board anywhere.
All-in materials run about $5 per book for a typical 80-page interior — Flex Cover ($1.85), Wrap sheet ($1.20), interior paper, plus a small share of resin/electricity. Labor is roughly 5 minutes of hands-on time. Most shops price these at $30-$60 retail depending on the vertical.
From file to finished: about 8 minutes for a single copy — design upload (1 min), wide-format print (2 min), wrap application (2 min), thermal bind (90 sec), trim and inspect (1 min). Runs of 10+ get faster per book as you batch the print and bind cycles.
No. Hardcover Designer ships with templates and is the fastest path to a print-ready file, but you can use InDesign, Illustrator, or any tool that exports a print-ready PDF. We supply the exact bleed, score, and panel dimensions for every Flex Cover SKU.
Yes — that’s the whole point. Files saved in Hardcover Designer reorder in a single click. Real estate agents, in particular, tend to order the same book template repeatedly with new property photos and addresses.
Flex Covers ship by the case (50 per case). Wrap substrate ships in 25-packs. There’s no minimum on what you produce or sell — a quantity-of-one custom book is the same workflow as a run of 100.
Two options. Request a demo and we’ll walk you through the workflow on a video call — we can ship samples to your shop the same day. Or order a sample pack (one finished book in each spine size, plus an unwrapped Flex Cover to inspect the construction) for $39, refunded against your first kit order.
Yes. Print-shop networks, franchises (AlphaGraphics, Minuteman Press, Sir Speedy, Allegra, PostNet, etc.), and equipment dealers qualify for wholesale pricing and co-branded marketing materials. Mention “dealer program” on the demo call.
Add a premium hardcover category to your shop in the time it takes to install a wide-format profile. Request a demo and we’ll ship sample books to your shop within 48 hours.
