What is a Flex Cover and how is it different from a Hard Cover?

A Flex Cover is a lightweight, plastic thermal binding cover with a built-in clear front panel and frosted back panel — no board, no rigid construction. It delivers a clean, professional finish instantly without the weight or cost of a hard cover. Hard covers use rigid board and are cased-in for a book-quality feel. Flex Covers are designed for high-volume, repeatable use where consistency and speed matter more than premium aesthetics.

What does the Flex Cover look like when finished?

The front panel is crystal clear, which means your first printed page is fully visible through the cover — no need to design a separate cover page. The back panel is frosted. You can also flip the orientation to place the frosted side forward for a more refined, matte look. The spine comes in your choice of colors including Black, White, Dark Blue, Quartz, Aluminum, Bordo, and Dark Green.

What machines are compatible with Flex Covers?

Flex Covers are compatible with all Peleman and Unibind thermal binding machines — the Unibind 60, Unibind 120, Unibind 8.1, and Unibind 8.2. All Peleman covers share the same U-shaped steel spine, so any machine you own works with every cover in the lineup without reconfiguration.

How many sheets can a Flex Cover hold?

Flex Covers are available in spine sizes ranging from 20 to 340 sheets. The right spine size depends on how thick your document is. Select the spine size that matches your document's page count before ordering.

What are Flex Covers used for?

Flex Covers are ideal for high-volume professional document binding. Common use cases include training manuals, onboarding packets, compliance documents, quarterly and annual reports, real estate buyer packets and rental listings, school and course materials, and any situation where you need a clean, consistent presentation produced quickly and repeatedly.

Can I customize the cover with my logo or branding?

Yes — because the front panel is clear, your printed first page is fully visible through the cover. Design your cover page with your logo, branding, or any layout you want, print it, and insert it. The result looks branded without any custom printing on the cover itself. This also makes it easy to reuse covers across different clients or documents.

Is the Flex Cover the right choice for my listing presentations / CMA reports?

Flex Covers work well for real estate buyer packets, rental listing packages, and quick-turn client materials where you need a polished look without the cost of hard covers. For listing presentations where you want to leave a premium impression, the Hard Cover is a step up and is the most popular option for that use case.

How do I bind documents with a Flex Cover?

Print your document, place it inside the Flex Cover (your cover page faces outward through the clear front), and insert the assembled cover into a compatible Peleman or Unibind machine. The machine heats the thermal resin in the spine, binding the pages in approximately 90 seconds. No warm-up time is needed.

What sizes are available for Flex Covers?

Flex Covers are available in standard portrait sizes including Letter (8.5×11). The size range matches the Spine Cover and standard Hard Cover lineup.

What is the minimum order quantity for Flex Covers?

Minimum order quantities vary by spine size, ranging from 24 to 110 units per order. Flex Covers are stocked items with short lead times.

Are Flex Covers reusable?

The cover itself is not designed for reuse after binding — once bound, the thermal resin creates a permanent bond. They are consumables with a high repeat purchase rate for offices, admin teams, and educators who bind frequently.

How does the Flex Cover compare to the Spine Cover?

A Spine Cover provides only the spine channel — you supply your own front and back panels. A Flex Cover includes built-in clear and frosted plastic panels, so it's a ready-to-use solution that delivers a finished look immediately with no additional materials needed. It's the next step up in the cover hierarchy.
